Support UH student-athletes during Giving Week: how to donate

HONOLULU (Hawaii News Now) – The University of Hawai’i is reaching out to the community to back its 21 athletic programs through UH Athletics Giving Week. Contributions can be made online and are intended to support scholarships, Name, Image, Likeness (NIL) opportunities, as well as academic assistance, nutrition, health, and wellness for student-athletes, as stated by university officials.

During this Giving Week, a live 90-minute special will be broadcast on Wednesday from 6:30–8 p.m. featuring interviews with coaches, game previews, and stories from student-athletes. The campaign, titled “Our Team, Hawai’i’s Team,” coincides with the homecoming week. Athletics director Matt Elliott emphasizes that this initiative invites all community members to show support for student-athletes who represent the university and the state. Elliott also highlighted that student-athletes give back through various community initiatives, molding them into future leaders.

Rainbow Warriors football coach Timmy Chang underscored the importance of donations in fulfilling student-athlete needs, noting that recruitment, nutrition, and access to technology are critical components. Furthermore, Rainbow Wahine basketball’s new coach Khalilah Mitchell pointed out that support during Giving Week significantly influences player recovery and nutrition, which is crucial for their performance at the season’s conclusion.
