Roosevelt High School Seniors Celebrate Direct2UH Acceptance

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A large group of students from Roosevelt High School received their acceptance letters from the University of Hawaii on Thursday. In the school’s auditorium, around 245 seniors were joined by state education leaders to mark the occasion as they celebrated the Direct2UH acceptance letters.

Many students felt relief at the streamlined process. “Everybody was kind of just shocked because it’s like, wow, we don’t have to do all that extra work,” remarked Zaniah Kakiva-Moses, a senior. The Direct2UH initiative, designed to motivate high schoolers to remain in Hawaii post-graduation, now encompasses all ten UH campuses. According to UH President Wendy Hensel, there is an educational opportunity for everyone, regardless of their career aspirations. The program simplifies the application process for public and charter school seniors by providing direct admission based on academic performance without any application fees. Education officials believe this initiative strengthens Hawaii’s future workforce, enabling students to contribute to their communities through local education.
