While We Weren’t Looking, a New Bakeshop and Deli Appeared in Mō‘ili‘ili

At Hō‘ili‘ili Market, the scent of fresh baked goods greets visitors daily. The market has become a home for delightful treats like Lā‘ie vanilla bean pound cake and Maui strawberry shortcake, expertly prepared by pastry chef Minaka Urquidi. Since taking the helm at the market’s bakeshop earlier this year, Urquidi has utilized Farm Link’s 100% locally grown produce to create unique desserts ranging from blueberry compote to chocolate chai spice ginger cookies.

Joined by her husband, Robert Urquidi, and fellow chef Jade Kapua Stevens-Poire, the team at Hō‘ili‘ili Market offers a compelling deli menu featuring items like guava barbecue chicken salad and local egg salad sandwiches. On this day, the market is celebrating its one-year anniversary with special events, including a chance to meet chef Minaka.
