HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The sport of Banana Ball will hit the Hawaiian Islands in 2027, with two scheduled games at the University of Hawaiʻi’s Les Murakami Stadium. The announcement follows Honolulu being selected as a host city during a live selection show aired on ESPN2. The Party Animals and the Loco Beach Coconuts are set to face off on April 30 and May 1.
The Loco Beach Coconuts will be led by Maui native and two-time World Series champion Shane Victorino, with connections to the local community including former Rainbow Warrior pitcher Andy Archer, who played for the ‘Bows in 2022.
Tickets for the games will be available through a lottery at BananaBall.com, starting with the Lottery List that opened after the selection show. This list will remain open until October 31, 2026. Les Murakami Stadium, named after a long-serving coach of the UH baseball program, has a seating capacity of 4,312. Kaupapa Inc., a Maui-based nonprofit focused on sustainability and community, partnered with the University of Hawaiʻi to bring the event to the islands.
Lahela Aiwohi, interim lead for Kaupapa, expressed excitement about the event, emphasizing the values of family and community that Banana Ball promotes. They look forward to welcoming the teams and allowing local families to experience this unique event.
