On Sunday afternoon at approximately 12:41 p.m., flames emerged from a vehicle that had stalled on the Pali Highway. In response to the incident, both the Honolulu Fire Department and the Honolulu Police Department shut down the Pali Highway in both directions around 12:51 p.m., near St. Stephen’s Diocesan.
As a result of the ongoing situation, a town-bound lane on the right side has since reopened. However, traffic will still be diverted before reaching the Pali Tunnel heading towards Kailua, and at Castle Junction for those traveling towards Honolulu. Authorities have advised travelers to steer clear of the area. Fortunately, there have been no reports of any injuries related to the incident. Updates will be provided as more details become available.
