UH’s Tali Hakas announces 2026 will be final season with Rainbow Wahine

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Tali Hakas, a standout outside hitter for the University of Hawaii women’s volleyball team, announced on Tuesday that the current season will mark her final year with the Rainbow Wahine. Despite having one additional year of eligibility, Hakas has decided to forgo it in order to pursue a professional volleyball career.

Hakas, originally from Israel, experienced a challenging year last season due to a shoulder injury. However, she has significantly contributed to the team’s success this year, ranking third in kills. Reflecting on her decision, Hakas expressed that it was tough but ultimately necessary, stating, “I know that Hawaii has been my home for the last 4 years and knowing that I missed a season, knowing I could have grown more. So I know that I could still give another year to this beautiful place, but I’m ready for the next chapter.” She is determined to make the most of the remainder of the season as the team prepares to host UNLV this Friday, with coverage starting at 6:30 p.m. Hawaii time on K5.
