HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A jury found Boniface Aiu III, 48, guilty on October 16 for his role as the leader of a violent crime spree that took place across Oahu earlier this year. His sentencing is set for February 4.
Aiu was convicted on two counts of first-degree robbery, one count of first-degree burglary, and two counts of unauthorized use of a vehicle. In February 2023, Aiu, along with three accomplices, was indicted by authorities. The Honolulu Police indicated that the group utilized weapons to rob at least three delivery drivers over a two-week period. Prosecuting Attorney Steve Alm emphasized that Aiu’s actions endangered the community and constituted a series of planned criminal acts, including a burglary of a military doctor’s residence and a robbery at First Hawaiian Bank in Mapunapuna, among other offenses. Due to his past criminal activities, Aiu is eligible for extended sentencing and is currently held at the Oahu Community Correctional Center.
