HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The Attorney General of Hawaii is calling on residents to participate in the national Prescription Drug Take-Back Initiative. On Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., individuals can utilize drive-through drop-off sites on Oahu and Kauai. In addition, year-round green take-back boxes can be found at police stations across Maui, Lanai, Molokai, and the Big Island, allowing for anonymous disposal.
Residents are encouraged to bring any unused or expired medications to these locations for safe disposal without questions asked. Jared Redulla, director of the Department of Law Enforcement, emphasized the dangers of misuse, stating, “Unused or unwanted medications can also be extremely harmful if they end up in the wrong hands or are misused.” For more disposal details, residents can visit dea.gov/takebackday or call 808-541-1930.
