HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – On Wednesday, Democratic leaders assembled at Kapolei High School to energize their supporters and promote voter engagement as the Nov. 3 general election draws closer. Party officials and community members came together to outline important issues for voters and to stress the importance of timely ballot submission.
Governor Josh Green noted, “We’re 12 days out from the election, and the country is clearly upset with what has been going on.” Additionally, Kauai Mayor Derek Kawakami emphasized the need for voters to complete their ballots and submit them within the deadline. Political analyst Colin Moore pointed out that the Westside has historically leaned Republican, highlighting the motivation behind the rally in that region.
State Rep. Darius Kila addressed concerns from residents who feel neglected, stating, “It is no secret. I am the only Democrat from Makaha to Ewa, and it is a reflection of, I think, fortunately, a population that feels left behind.” Attendees expressed appreciation for the opportunity to engage directly with candidates on their prioritized issues, as emphasized by local resident Kekoa Kealoha. Hawaii News Now has reached out for comments from the Republican Party of Hawaii and several candidates, awaiting their responses.
