HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – ALA Moana Center has a refreshed centerpiece, thanks to the creativity of Native Hawaiian artist Aaron Kai. On Friday, Kai completed a mural named “Nalu ma Le’ahi” (Waves at Diamond Head) that spans 28 feet across the Aloha installation on the third floor of the center.
Originally from Hawaiʻi Island, Kai incorporates elements from the Hilo Hāmākua surf culture, utilizing vibrant colors and bold lines, along with his recognizable wave design. Visitors can view the completed mural and meet the artist on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 11 a.m. to noon. The first 100 attendees will receive a complimentary tote bag. Following this event, Kai will host a celebration for his HIC x Aaron Kai collection at HIC, Street Level, Ewa Wing, from 2 to 4 p.m. His past collaborations include brands like adidas, Heineken, Samsung, Taco Bell, and the Los Angeles Rams.
