HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A former Army official, Carlos Duque, is scheduled to appear in federal court in Honolulu on October 28th, facing serious allegations of accepting bribes. The charges against him include conspiracy, receiving a bribe as a public official, and major fraud.
According to court documents, Duque allegedly accepted over $1 million in bribes from two contractors based in Florida, identified as 59-year-old Brian Kent and 62-year-old Leonard Pick. During the time of the alleged offenses, Duque was a civilian employee. Back in June, both Kent and Pick pleaded “Not Guilty” to the charges of bribery. Duque is also accused of making fraudulent statements regarding contract costs, and a conviction could result in the forfeiture of property and funds linked to these offenses.
